Vacancy - General Manager
A vacancy has been created and Cargostore is looking to appoint a suitable applicant to the role of General Manager. This senior position will report to the Managing Director and you will be responsible for:

  • Developing the rental and sales of Cargostore’s fleet of ISO shipping containers to the liner shipping, freight forwarding and logistics sectors of the transportation industry. You will take our business to the next level by developing your contacts and relationships and by using a wide number of management and marketing skills to create new business.
  • Focusing your Regional Managers on their specific geographical areas and, as a result, maximising the Company’s return on investment.
  • Preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Developing KPIs with clients that allow you to target your stock levels and maximise asset performance.
  • Organising targeted local and coordinated international sales campaigns.
  • Negotiating the principal leasing and sales contracts your team sources with lateral thinking and flair.
This role will probably suit an industry professional who is looking to develop management skills and to step up to a senior position within a fast expanding and dynamic company. Your success will be judged on how you manage your team and on the value of new business you secure and develop. You will be a rounded manger, skilled in crafting procurement tenders with the capability to organise people, have them trust and respect your judgement and build a target focused group of logistics providers. You are comfortable meeting and negotiating with all levels of seniority in a very high pressure industry. The successful candidate will be expected to travel both domestically and internationally as part of a coordinated sales brief. You will be self-motived and very able to work on your own and as the head of a results driven team. The position is based at our Wimbledon office.

This role is likely to appeal to someone who has decided to take on greater responsibility than you have at present or where you want to make your mark in the industry and feel that you are being held back in your present position. It is likely you will have between five and ten years’ experience in a key logistics industry including liner shipping, intermodal equipment leasing, freight forwarding or NGO disaster relief management. Ideally, you will be able to show recent proven success in leasing and selling to the liner shipping and logistics market. Since our product mix is possibly the widest in our industry, specific product training will be given to the successful applicant.

Working closely with a hands on Board of Directors, setting demanding targets and organising your team to produce the required results, will set you apart from your competitors. In addition to industry specific knowledge and experience, you must have the confidence to know that you will easily fit this demanding position.

Your salary and employment package will reflect what you bring to the Company.

If you know you are suitable for this challenging role, please e-mail your CV and two references to Paul Barry - pb@cargostore.com.
